Manual lymphatic drainage massage (MLD) is a gentle massage technique that stimulates a sluggish immune system to more activity by increasing the circulation of lymph. Lymph fluid is a clear fluid that we hold throughout our body. They help to fight bacteria in the blood, so we want to make sure there are no blockages and allow that fluid to be properly drained.
MLD is completely painless and incredibly relaxing. Using soft pressure we manipulate the skin and move along pressure points on the face, which increases blood circulation and removes toxins allowing the body and skin to get their proper nutrition. MLD helps improve the skin’s complexion by removing metabolic waste. We can use our hands, Kansa wands, gua sha stones, and cups. If you have had a facial at Wildflower chances are you have experienced Lymphatic drainage. You know the massage technique is working well when you are swallowing quite a bit throughout the treatment.
Are there any people who can’t get MLD? Yes. There are contraindications for almost everything. It’s not recommended under these circumstances if you have a heart condition, are prone to or has blood clots, asthma, and any infections. We always advise you to talk to your medical health practitioner before getting lymph drainage if you have one of the things listed above.
